BAFTAs: Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas arrive on red carpet
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, 40, and Nick Jonas, 30, shocked their fans last year when they announced they had welcomed their daughter Malti through a surrogate, which originally garnered some unexpected backlash.
However, this was soon overshadowed with the baby’s health woes as Malti spent the first 110 days of her life in the NICU.
The baby was born 12 weeks premature and there were concerns that she may not make it home with her A-list parents.
In May it will officially be one full year since the baby girl was given the all-clear, and as her mum graces the digital cover of Elle, she opened up on how Malti “can get away with anything”.
The Quantico star revealed Malti’s time in the NICU was a “rollercoaster” and had a big influence on her parents as they were “so close to losing her so many times”.
When Matli was first allowed to go home, Priyanka would often put her ear on the baby’s chest just to make sure she was breathing and her anxieties have quickly translated into a difficulty maintaining discipline as Malti heads towards the terrible two’s.
The former Miss World shared: “I want her to be the happiest. She’s got me wrapped around her finger. I don’t even know how I’ll ever discipline her because I just don’t have it in me.
“Every time she smiles, it lights up my world, and that’s all I want to do.”
As Priyanka continues her global press tour for her upcoming series Citadel, Nick joins his brothers on the Jonas Brothers on their own international list of concert dates.

But, Priyanka reassured that Malti is with them whenever possible, adding: “Malti is always with her family and she can go anywhere with us.
“It was very important to us to be able to expose her to just life and its beautiful gifts.”
When the A-listers announced they had welcomed Malti via a surrogate rumours began flying claiming that their busy schedules meant they didn’t have enough time together physically to conceive.
However, this was soon thwarted, as the actress revealed to Vogue that she had “medical complications” and surrogacy was “a necessary step” the couple had to take to extend their family.
Although the former beauty queen had been a public figure for almost two decades, she admitted that the criticisms involving her daughter hit differently than any backlash she had experienced before.
She told the outlet: “I’ve developed a tough hide when people talk about me, but it’s so painful when they talk about my daughter. I’m like, ‘Keep her out of it’.
“I know what it felt like to hold her little hands when they were trying to find her veins. So no, she’s not going to be gossip.”
