Richard Madeley caused a stir in a recent video as he discussed all things Strictly Come Dancing. The Good Morning Britain presenter, who has been married to Judy Finnigan for 35 years, admitted he and his other half would only appear on the BBC dance show once “hell freezes over”.
In a TikTok shared via the official Strictly’s Instagram account, Richard, 66, gave an insight into his preferences, if he ever did decide to take it to the dancefloor, and he gave his first choice for a dance partner.
He began: “Hi everybody. This is Richard Madeley and these are my dream Strictly experiences.”
Sharing a photo of the 33-year-old pro dancer, the veteran broadcaster continued: “I think my dream partner – if I was given the choice of professionals – would have to be Nadiya.
“I really like her. But also she’s tall and I’m tall, so I think physically we would be quite a good match.”
Despite the GMB host sharing details of his “dream” dance partner, the presenter admitted his wife has put her foot down about either one of them appearing on the BBC show.
Richard said he and wife, Judy, would only appear on Strictly “when hell freezes over”.
The presenter was chatting to Rylan Clark on Strictly: It Takes Two as part of the Friday panel on October 14.
As Rylan welcomed Richard onto the show, he asked the presenter: “When am I getting you and Judy Finnigan on the dancefloor?”
To which he simply replied: “When hell freezes over,” much to Rylan’s disappointment.
The GMB presenter then explained: “We would just be so embarrassed doing it. We just couldn’t.
Rylan went on and said: “Even so, we’d love it.”
Richard then asked the It Takes Two host, 33, whether he cared about their “pain” and he replied: “I care about you dearly but I care about [Strictly] more.”
The GMB host added: “I wouldn’t sleep at night, especially having to do the jive. Could you imagine me doing the jive?” to which Rylan enthusiastically replied, “Yeah and that excites me, Richard.”

Despite his apprehension to take part in Strictly, Richard is a big fan of the programme and is an avid watcher of each series.
He suggested this year’s contestant, comedian Ellie Taylor, was the “dark horse of the series”.
He also praised couples Hamza Yassin & Jowita Przystal, Matt Goss & Nadiya Bychkova and Molly Rainford & Carlos Gu.
But it was Matt and his partner Nadiya who bid farewell on Sunday night’s results show after the pair landed in the bottom two.
The Bros singer exited the competition following a unanimous vote from the judges.
His dance partner, Nadiya, wrote on Instagram: “I am so grateful I got to teach and to dance with this incredible man, a music icon. But more importantly, I got to know the real you @mattgoss and you are tender, kind and the truest of gentlemen.
“We were stood there, watching Kim dancing in the dance off, and he was saying: ‘as a gentleman, I can’t compete with a lady @marsh_kym, with a friend.’ He loves and cares about each and everyone there @bbcstrictly.
She added: “It was difficult to compete for him, because he didn’t want anyone to leave the competition. He is a real gentleman and more.”
