Ryan Reynolds continues tradition of roasting wife Blake Lively on her birthday

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively might just be our favourite celebrity couple, and one thing we all look forward to each year is the birthday tributes.

The Deadpool actor is forever showering his wife with love and affection, but he loves a joke as well, and them brutally roasting each other on their birthdays has become somewhat of a tradition.

His birthday message for Blake as she turns 35 was in typical tongue and cheek fashion, with Ryan seemingly unfazed by the possibility of getting told off for sharing embarrassing pics of his other half online.

The cheeky post he shared started off all affectionate: ‘Happy Birthday, @blakelively. You’re spectacular. I’m not sure if you were born or invented’, he wrote.

Ryan added on Instagram: ‘Also, thank you for urging me to leave the house every now and again. ❤️’

The first snap he shared of his wife was sure to melt hearts, showing the couple cuddling up at the Met Gala, beaming at the camera.

But as Ryan’s 44.8million followers swipe through the carousel, they’d see Blake in another light.

Embedded in the mushy pics was a snap of the Gossip Girl actress asleep on the couch with lettuce leaves over her face, mouth open – it’s a good job she loves you, Ryan!

The other pics were all kinds of precious, though, including a selfie from a candlelit dinner and Ryan, 45, being the ultimate hype man with a photo of his wife looking absolutely fire in a mini dress and heels.

Seemingly unbothered by the rogue comical snap (she’s probably come to expect them now), Blake commented: ‘😊😊❤️ my guy’.

Blake has been known to give it back, though, once joking on Ryan’s birthday that she ‘honestly can’t believe we’re still married’.

Fans were quick to shower Blake in happy birthday wishes, while her sister Robyn wrote jokingly: ‘I always said lettuce green was her colour. She never listened to me. 🥬’

Blake and Ryan married in 2012 after first meeting in 2010 when they filmed the movie adaptation of Green Lantern.

Now all kinds of couple goals, they share three children – James, seven, Inez, five, and Betty, two.

Their marriage seems to still be going strong, despite Ryan recently revealing that his spouse was not impressed when he bought Wrexham football club with pal Rob McElhenney.

Ryan took control of the club last year along with It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia actor Rob, after promising to invest £2million into it in 2020.

‘The really bad news is that I might have bought half of a fifth-tier national football league in Wales’, Ryan told Blake after the deal was signed off.

Asked what her reaction was by Jimmy Kimmel, Ryan replied: ‘Not good, Rob. Not great. We’re still working through that one.’
