Sam Smith dons white skirt and matching tank top for NY stroll with rumoured boyfriend

Sam Smith was spotted taking a stroll in New York in a typically eye-catching outfit alongside rumoured boyfriend Christian Cowan.

The 31-year-old singer kept cool in the hot summer weather by wearing a white pleated skirt with a matching vest. The London-born hitmaker teamed the outfit with tan work boots and gold necklaces.

The outfit showed off Sam's array of tattoos on their arms and legs and they sported a scruffy beard for the occasion. Fashion designer Christian, meanwhile, went for an all-black look, featuring an oversized top and shorts.

Sam and Christian have sparked relationship rumours in recent months after being spotted out together on a number of occasions. This year the pair have attended Some Like It Hot on Broadway and New York City's Pride together – though they are yet to confirm they are dating.

In the past, Sam had a very public relationship with 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn, and was also romantically linked to TOWIE's Charlie King and Hollyoaks star Andy Newton Lee. The singer has previously said they "never really kind of played by the rule book" when it came to relationships.

"I love people and whoever I fall for, that’s who I fall for,” Sam told The Sun in October 2020. "I don’t know who that’s going to be. Now I don’t know what gender they will be, to be quite honest, and that’s a freeing thing — to not be limited to one category of person. I just fall in love with whoever I fall in love with.”

Earlier this month, Sam shared a video of themselves dancing in a Barbie snuddie to promote their latest song. The singer-songwriter posted the clip to Instagram showing them lip synching to The Man I Am, which will be featured in the upcoming Barbie movie when it hits cinemas on Friday, 21 July.

In the video, Sam can be seen wearing an oversized pink snuddie emblazoned with the Barbie logo and palm trees, prompting fans to rush to the comment section to find out where they can get one for themselves.

Meanwhile, in April, Sam shrugged off controversy surrounding their music as their GLORIA tour arrived in London. Kicking off at The 02 Arena, the singer put on an eye-catching show with numerous outfit changes, donning various corsets and gowns, and at one point sporting a black hat decorated with red devil horns.

Sam's tour has made its way to the UK, following a stint in the US, where some critics branded the singer's performances "satanic".

The complaints led to Sam being verbally attacked as they strolled through New York City's Central Park in February, when an unidentified woman branded the musician "demonic" and "evil."
