Scarlett Johansson showed off her extensive tattoo collection during the red carpet premiere of Asteroid City at theCannes Film Festival.
The 38 year old movie star looked stunning as she displayed her eye-catching inkings in a figure-hugging, pink Prada gown – which she accessorised with a dazzling pair of earrings from David Yurman.
The dress revealed Scarlett’s enormous back tattoo, which shows a lamb beneath her right shoulder blade, next to some roses.
The actress first debuted the lamb design in June 2017 at the premiere of her film Rough Night. The elaborate floral tattoo was unveiled a month later.
Though Scarlett has never shared the meaning behind her back inking, she has a daughter named Rose Dorothy Dauriac.
Her Asteroid City premiere dress also showcased the bracelet tattoo on her wrist, which carries the inscription ‘I love NY’, and an Avengers tattoo on the inside of her right arm.
Scarlett's other inkings include a lucky horseshoe on her ribcage – designed by French graffiti artist and tattooist Fuzi Uvtpk – a rising sun on her left forearm, a flying owl on her midriff and two interlocking circles on her right ankle.
The actress made a rare red carpet appearance with husband Colin Jost, 40, at the Asteroid City premiere on Tuesday.
Scarlett, who plays character Midge Campbell in the film, could not contain her joy as she held hands with and cosied up to Saturday Night Live star Colin – who wore a black tuxedo.
Scarlett and Colin have been married for three years and share a son, Cosmo Jost, who was born in 2021.
The Hollywood star also shares eight-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy with ex-husband Romain Dauriac, a French journalist.
Asteroid City, directed by Wes Anderson, follows the itinerary of a Junior Stargazer convention which is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events. It is set in America in 1955 – with the costuming and styling replicating the iconic trends of the decade, complete with fit and flare skirts, deadpan delivery, and plenty of over-saturated colour.
The film co-stars Jason Schwartzman, Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks – who wasphotographed at the premiere apparently locked in a heated altercation with someone on the red carpet.
A trailer for the film arrived last month andfans could not believe how different Scarlett looked in it.
In the trailer, Scarlett can be seen with ultra short dark curls piled on top of her head in a style closely resembling actress and singer Judy Garland.
The premiere comes after Scarlett admitted in an interview earlier this month that she almost gave up acting after losing out on a dream role to Sandra Bullock.
She told how she felt 'hopeless' after then being overlooked for the lead role in Gravity.
She toldVariety: “I got turned down for two roles – the first was Iron Man 2 and then the other one was Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, I had wanted that role so much.
"It was sort of the straw that broke the camel’s back. I felt really frustrated and hopeless. Like, ‘Am I doing the right job’?"
