Snoop Dogg Reveals Giving Up 'Smoke' Was Part Of Marketing Ploy

Hip-hop legend and marijuana icon Snoop Dogg‘s recent announcement that he was giving up “smoke” was actually a marketing ploy.

Last week, through social media, the rapper announced, “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time.”

However, he cleared all the doubts in the air on Monday morning, November 20, when he revealed that he wasn’t speaking about his weed but about his backyard fire pit.

“Go smokeless with Snoop Dogg,” reads the headline on the website for the Solo Stove firepit company. The release noted that the brand’s limited-edition collab with Snoop includes a $350 “Snoop Stove” featuring the rapper’s logo, signature and a pair of dog paws emblazoned on the side, as well as a bucket hat and sticker pack.

“I have an announcement. I’m givin’ up smoke,” Snoop said as he sat among chirping crickets in the woods by himself. “I know what you’re thinkin’, ‘Snoop, smoke is kinda your whole thing!’ But I’m done with it. Done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all sticky icky. I’m going smokeless,” he added as the camera panned back to frame the rapper sitting in front of a Solo firepit.

Since the start of his career, Snoop has been an avowed cannabis smoker, making it one of the trademarks of his image. He has even claimed to have smoked in the White House.
