Snoop Dogg says he ‘loves Coronation Street’ and wants to appear on ITV soap

Coronation Street's iconic cobbles could soon play host to an unexpected guest… the one and only Snoop Dogg.

The 51 year old, self-nicknamed The Doggfather, has helped pioneer the hip-hop music scene for more than three decades now, with hit tunes such as Drop It Like It's Hot cementing his status as a rap legend.

But it seems the rap superstar has ambitions that could take him a world away from the States – and onto shores here in the UK.

He said in a new interview: "Coronation Street, I love it. If they call me I'll do it. I'll play whenever they need.

"I love the cinematography, acting, the storylines and just the reality. I'd like to be part of it because they've been part of my culture."

Speaking to The Sun, he also revealed that he'd love to perform at King Charles III's imminent coronation.

Snoop explained: "When they tried to kick me out of England, the Queen made a comment that her grandbabies loved Snoop Doggy Dogg, and he had done no wrong in Britain, so she gave me permission to be here.

"Those grandbabies grew up to be Prince William and Harry, so I had influence on them and they had influence on their grandmother, which enabled me to get into this beautiful country. They love my music.

"There's mutual love and respect."

While we eagerly wait for ITV to draw up Snoop's contract, Princess Anne recently paid a special visit to the Corrie set.

Anne is Patron of the Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI), who've been advising the soap's producers and writers on a new storyline for Charlotte Jordan's barmaid Daisy Midgeley.

Commenting on the 72 year old's appearance, ITV's managing director of continuing drama John Whiston shared in a statement: "Working with ASTI on this storyline has been invaluable to all of us. HRH's patronage of the charity is clearly of huge importance to both Her Royal Highness and the charity and it was an absolute honour to have them join us at Coronation Street today.

"The visit gave both cast and colleagues the chance to discuss how they have worked together to create and portray such a delicate and important storyline, an opportunity none of us will forget."

Acid attack survivor Sammear Hussein was also in attendance on the day, alongside Mrs Sharman Birtles MBE JP DL Vice Lord-Lieutenant and Councillor Chris Boyes Mayor of Trafford.
