Sobbing Princess Charlottes grief laid bare in devastating pictures at Queens funeral

Princess Charlotte has been seen crying in heartbreaking pictures from the Queen's funeral.

The seven year old is seen being comforted by her mum Kate, the Princess of Wales, as she wipes her eyes with her hands.

It comes after her older brother Prince George, nine, was also comforted by Kate during the service in Westminster Abbey.

The late Queen's great-grandson George appeared to get emotional and was seen wiping tears away from his face.

The moment was spotted by royal fans who were watching the funeral service on television, with some discussing the solemn occasion on social media.

“Seeing Prince George and Princess Charlotte so heartbroken has got the tears flowing”, posted one viewer on Twitter.

Another wrote: “Little Prince George wiping away tears. [Crying emoji.]”

“Prince George, now 2nd in line standing next to his father Prince William of Wales. I’m sorry he’s bringing me to tears,” added a third.

George and Charlotte joined their parents, Kate and William, and other members of the royal family for the state funeral of the Queen.

Their younger brother, Prince Louis, four, was absent from the service.

Charlotte wore a black hat that sweetly matched her mum's choice of headwear, while George was smartly-dressed in a navy suit.

Kate was seen offering a simple loving gesture to Charlotte as she was greeted by officials at the funeral, by placing her hand on her daughter's shoulder to show she was there for her.

The mother and daughter also held hands as they headed into Westminster Abbey, which also hosted the Queen's wedding and coronation.

Kate opened up about her children’s reactions to their great-grandmother’s death as she spoke to Governor-General of Australia David Hurley at a reception at Buckingham Palace yesterday.

Kate said that the young Prince Louis was struggling to understand things.

Recalling what she told him, the Governor-General said: “The younger one is now asking questions like, 'do you think we can still play these games when we go to Balmoral?' and things like that, because she's not going to be there.”

However she said George, who will one day be King, is "sort of now realising how important his great-grandmother was and what is going on".
