Today in Meghan Markle and Prince Harry docuseries updates, Page Six is out here reporting that Netflix filmmakers are “confused” that some of the content in the show “contradicted” what’s in Harry’s upcoming memoir.
As a ~senior Netflix source~ put it, “A lot in the show contradicted what Harry has written, so that was an issue. Then Harry and Meghan made significant requests [to filmmakers] to walk back content they themselves have provided, for their own project.”
According to Page Six, the couples’ docuseries will drop in early December (right after The Crown), despite Meghan and Harry’s requests that it be pushed back to 2023. A source previously told the outlet that the Sussexes are “keen to take out or downplay” much of what they’ve said about royals (including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton), and noted “A lot of conversations are happening. I hear that Harry and Meghan want the series to be held until next year, they want to stall. I wonder if the show could even be dead in the water at this point, do Harry and Meghan just want to shelve this thing?”
But sounds like the series isn’t being shelved, and Netflix is apparently eager to get the final edit done and dusted. A source explained that “Netflix needs a couple of months to do all of the formatting and dubbing, subtitling and audio — all of that stuff that enables it to launch on the platform.”
Potential changes to Meghan and Harry’s show come amid claims that King Charles is waiting to make decisions about their children Archie and Lilibet’s titles until after the memoir and docuseries drop. Vanity Fair royal reporter Katie Nicholl spoke to a source who revealed decisions on titles depend on “what happens in the coming months, particularly with Harry’s book and their TV show.”
