School children show support for former student Annabel Croft
Strictly Come Dancing 2023 contestant Annabel Croft was taken aback by one particularly touching video ahead of her third performance on the BBC show tomorrow.
The former tennis star was honoured with a special dance routine from the children of The Granville School in Sevenoaks, Kent, which she attended as a girl.
Taking to Instagram, the sports broadcaster shared a sweet clip of the girls’ energetic routine in view of her 20,200 followers.
In the video, the kids could be seen having a synchronised boogie before calling out in unison: “Good luck, Annabel! Keep dancing!”
A piece of text on the video also read: “Dance club are all supporting our ex-Granville girl on Strictly.”

While the caption added: “We don’t know if there was a Dance Club at The Granville when @annabel_croft was here but our current dancers are backing her for the win on @bbcstrictly.
“Annabel, we’d love you to come and teach us some steps #strictlycomedancing #dance #thegranvilleschool,” they added. (sic)
Taking to the comments, Annabel told them: “Wow! How lovely! This is so kind of you all. Thank you so much for your support. I hope you enjoy Movie Week.”

Sharing it on her Instagram Story, she added: “This is adorable. Thank you so much.”
Annabel is competing on Strictly months after the death of her beloved husband Mel Coleman, with whom she shares two grown-up daughters: Charlie, 27, and Lily, 25.
For movie week tomorrow, Annabel and Johannes will be taking on the Waltz, as they dance to the song Moon River from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Other routines fans can look forward to include Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell’s Samba to Young Hearts Run Free’ from Romeo and Juliet, as well as Nigel Harman and Katya Jones’ Jive to Batman’s iconic theme tune.
Meanwhile, Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington will be performing the Quickstep to the song Do-Re-Mi from The Sound of Music, and Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice will take on the first Rumba of the series to Out of Reach from Bridget Jones’s Diary.
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow night at 6.20pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
