Strictly’s Tony Adams, 55, previously opened up about a former fling he had with model and bussinesswoman Caprice Bourret in 1999. Prior to his stint on the BBC show, the retired professional footballer said that sex with the model became “like a drug” and he had to move on from the relationship. 

Following the end of his marriage to ex-wife Jane Shea, the Arsenal legend had a short-lived fling with the model. 

He wrote in his 2017 memoir, SOBER: Football. My Story. My Life, that he was told on mulitiple occasions he was “punching above his weight”. 

Tony said: “I don’t think it was purely physical – and there were plenty who would say I was punching above my weight…

“In the end, though, I knew I would have to end the relationship due to the lack of emotional connection.

He added he felt the relationship became like a one-sided “act”, and claimed that Caprice was “playing games”. 

Express.co.uk has contacted Caprice’s reps for comment.

Tony also admitted he had “regrets” about the romance at the time when it ended.

The sportsman said: “It felt like an act, that she was playing a game before and after she met me.

“The honesty and sincerity I saw initially got lost behind the facade. I did have second thoughts – and there is always regret when a relationship ends.”

He concluded, saying: “Sex can be such a drug and could have kept me in the relationship.”

Tony confessed frankly that he “felt like a king” in the model’s company.

Despite the feeling, he nevertheless turned down the £50,000 opportunity to star alongside Caprice in Celebrity Big Brother. 

The Strictly dancer has been happily married to wife Poppy Teacher since 2004. 

The star impressed judges on Strictly on Saturday night when performing an East End inspired Charleston. 

Tony received sixes from Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke, while getting a four from Craig Revel Horwood. 

Following his performance, Poppy could be seen beaming from ear-to-ear in pride of her husband. 

Poppy told Tess Daly before his performance that she had “total confidence” in him. 

She said: “I have total confidence, I’ve never been so proud or so in love with him – and I’m going to proper cry.”

The football legend is known for his 22-year career as a centre-back, playing for both Arsenal and England.

He had captained both teams, and is regarded as one of Arsenal’s best-ever players.
