Tamara Ecclestone’s father-in-law dies as ‘heartbroken’ husband Jay Rutland pays tribute

Tamara Ecclestone's father-in-law David Rutland has sadly died as her husband Jay Rutland has paid tribute in a "heartbroken" post on his Instagram page.

The tight-knit family always spent a lot of time with David and socialite Tamara and Jay's children were also really close to their grandfather.

Sharing the devastating news alongside a sweet family photo of a birthday occasion, Jay told fans he was "absolutely heartbroken writing this".

The picture showed Tamara, Jay's mum, dad David, and two daughters for grinning as they posed for a lovely family moment together, alongside stunning cream patterned birthday cake, which was covered in pink roses.

Jay didn't reveal his father's cause of death in the post.

"A day I always worried about, but much sooner than I ever expected," he wrote. "Dad, I love you and miss you more than you would ever realise.

"You loved my girls so much and I know how much joy it gave you seeing all the things they get up to.

"So often you would call me in disbelief having seen the latest thing Fifi had accomplished."

Jay went on to say that he is "so incredibly sad" that his daughters won't get to see their grandfather again, and it's what "hurts the most" in losing his dad.

"The little bond you already had with Riri makes my heart hurt," the grieving dad-of-two continued.

"I am so glad we got to do the things we did together and I hope you knew how loved you truly were by all of your family."

Jay reflected on his relationship with his dad, as he admitted that while David was not a very emotional person and didn't tap into his feelings much, he showed it in other ways.

Tamara's husband shared the heartbreaking memory of seeing his dad's iPad screensaver was his baby daughter, it made him "laugh and cry at the same time".

"I now have an overwhelming sadness that you are gone but they say that grief is the price we pay for love," Jay finished his post.

"God bless Dad, you are with Mark now and we will all meet again one day X."

Tamara and Jay got married in June 2013, and reside in a house in Kensington Palace Gardens in London that was purchased for £45 million in 2011.

The couple share daughters Sophia, eight, and Serena, two.
