The Cheshire-born star revealed that creating a new family wasn’t her top priority because of her career.
“It wasn’t the right time because I was never settled.”
However, she added that her biological clock at 31 prompted her to start a new family.
Speaking on the Spinning Plates with Sophie Ellie Bextor podcast, Tess shared that she did not initially feel ready for motherhood.
“Never seems like the perfect time but when it does happen it sort of is.”
She continued that because of her strong work ethic, she had never considered not working.
“I didn’t think about not working because I enjoyed it and I needed to work.
“It’s one of those things that’s defined me, and I’ve worked hard to get the work that I have and had.”

However, the TV personality did hint at being envious of friends who took maternity leave and didn’t have to go to work the next day.
She added that everyone had different challenges and that it was about “juggling and balancing” life and children.
Tess also shared that had she not been a mother she would have “worked more… without a doubt”.
But she made sure to have time for her children as she “didn’t want to miss out on all those lovely first moments”.
The blonde star revealed that she hoped she could show her daughters they could be mothers and work.
“You’re trying to have it all… you do your best to try and make it work,” she said.
The strong work mentality may have been generational as Tess revealed that her own mother worked until retirement.
Seeing this as a norm, she revealed that her mother “made it look easy”, which influenced her own lifestyle.
