Drew Barrymore announces she is the MTV awards host
The Drew Barrymore Show will be returning to the small screen with a release date announced, following a delay due to the writers strike.
After announcing her intention to continue with the show amid the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike last month, Barrymore faced significant backlash.
Picketing at her New York City studio and social media outcry, particularly after a September 10 Instagram post and a subsequent video, prompted the actress-host to delay the return until the strike concluded.
“We really tried to find our way forward, and I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon,” Barrymore expressed in an Instagram post.
Other shows with WGA writers, like The Talk and The Jennifer Hudson Show, also postponed their premieres.
Following the WGA’s tentative agreement with the AMPTP group, ending the strike effective September 26, these shows have now announced new return dates.
The Drew Barrymore Show will be back for a brand new series on Monday, October 16.
The Talk is set to resume a little earlier on October 9, while The Jennifer Hudson Show came back on October 2.
Kelly Clarkson also announced the return of her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, from its new New York City venue, NBC Studios’ Studio 6A, on October 16.
The same studio previously hosted Late Night shows with David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, and Jimmy Fallon.
