The One Show was thrown into chaos, on Wednesday when producers were forced to step in to clear up a fiery debate between presenters.
It all happened when Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas were joined by comedian and The Great British Sewing Bee host, Sara Pascoe.
BBC producers intervened when a fiery on-screen debate took place between the presenters over when the iconic phrase ‘Wasssuuuppp’ was first used on TV.
Sara revealed what was coming up on her sewing show as she said: ’90’s week is next week. That was my favourite, I was really into it. I said ”Wasssuuuppp” a lot!’
However, Jermaine argued that the famous expression – which first came to public attention in a fun Budweiser advert – was actually from the noughties.

A surprised Sara admitted: ‘Okay, I think we are going to need an edit!’ while Jermaine asked viewers to write in to confirm who was right as Sara joked: ‘We’re too old now!’
Later in the show, Alex returned to the debate once again and said: ‘By the way because people at home are like ”was it the 90’s?”, it was!’
But Jermaine was adamant that he was right as he insisted: ‘No, no, no, it was the noughties!’ leaving Alex laughing awkwardly as she confessed: ‘Oh sorry, I wasn’t listening properly!’
As the three TV personalities continued debating the issue, Alex looked to camera and asked The One Show producers behind-the-scenes to confirm when the phrase was first used.
While the producers in the gallery fact checked, there was an awkward pause in the studio before Alex and Jermaine were given the answer in their ear pieces.
She triumphantly announced: ’20th December 99 – we’re right!’ to which Jermaine responded: ‘You can JUST have it, alright!?’ with Sara adding: ‘It’s just on the cusp.’
Back in March, the co-hosts had to deal with another awkward incident, when Paddy McGuinness made a joke about tax avoidance on The One Show.
Who was right? After a debate, Alex triumphantly announced the producer’s had confirmed: ’20th December 99 – we’re right!’ with Jermaine responding: ‘You can JUST have it, alright!?’
Discussing the move to using virtual payments over cash, Alex said: ‘A lot of smaller shops beside me only took cards, now they’re asking for cash because they’re losing out on money every time people use cards, especially under £5 and £10.’
Addressing Paddy, Jermaine asked: ‘When was the last time you paid with cash?’ to which Paddy replied: ‘Well, weirdly, I mean we are heading towards a cashless society but I kind of just presume everything’s chip and pin.’
‘But there’s a little dry cleaners near me that still does cash only, which catches you out. All my mates are in the building game, they’re gutted,’ he said before appearing to motion cash with his hand as a nod to tax avoidance schemes.
He then slyly tapped his nose to suggest that the cash payments were done sneakily, and added: ‘They used to like doing the odd… one of them, you know what I mean?’
Alex responded by saying: ‘Say no more,’ before Jermaine awkwardly added: ‘I think we should move on, I reckon.’
