Kelsey Parker, the wife of the late The Wanted star Tom Parker, has paid an emotional tribute to her husband on what would have been his 34th birthday on August 4.
The singer and father of two tragically passed away in March after an 18-month battle with brain cancer, leaving behind his wife Kelsey, 32, and their two children, Aurelia, two, and 23 month old Bodhi.
Kelsey took to Instagram on Thursday to share a sweet video of students from her K2K Stars Performing Arts School as they all sat on a train and sang out loud to This is Me, from smash-hit musical drama The Greatest Showman.
Although the video was lighthearted, in the caption Kelsey admitted that Tom's first birthday since his passing was "tough" for her, and left her "feeling pretty fed up with the world".
She thanked people for their messages and kind words around Tom's birthday, but said that her K2K Stars group had "lifted her spirits".
In a touching tribute, she spoke directly to Tom as she paid tribute to him "up there", and said: "Happy Birthday up there my love, miss you more and more each day. I know you will be proud of me and your babies."
Her full video caption read: "Thanks for lovely messages around Tom's birthday. Not going to lie, it started as a really tough day, feeling pretty fed up with the world but thankfully this lovely lot have lifted my spirits…
"@k2kstars trip to see 101 Dalmatian’s at Regent's Park, how can their voices not fill you with a bit of joy. Happy Birthday up there my love, miss you more and more each day. I know you will be proud of me and your babies".
Kelsey has been open and honest with her and her young children's journey's as they navigate life without Tom, and on Sunday August 7, Kelsey is set to host a charity event in Tom's name to raise money for Cancer via the 'Ahead of the Game Foundation’.
Speaking a little about the reason behind the event, Kelsey explained: “This event is to celebrate Tom's legacy and his memory. We want to raise much needed funds to help others who are fighting this awful disease.”
Kelsey announced Tom's tragic passing via Instagram on March 30, writing: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we confirm Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with all of his family by his side. Our hearts are broken, Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.
"We are truly thankful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.
"Thank you to everyone who has supported in his care throughout, he fought until the very end. I’m forever proud of you."
