Yazmin Oukhellou has spoken out about how she “wouldn't have survived the crash” if she hadn’t fallen asleep in the car.
Following the TOWIE’s star’s return to the UK with serious injuries following a horror car crash in Turkey that took her friend and ex-boyfriend Jake McLean’s life, she has revealed more about the fateful crash.
The reality star, 28, told The Sun: “I severed an artery and a nerve, that’s why I bled so much. The doctors called me an angel, a miracle, because it’s a notorious spot and people have never survived. Now I’m just wondering how the hell did my partner die while I’ve survived? It’s made me look at life totally differently.”
She also told the publication that she was told she probably only survived the crash because she was asleep at the time the car plunged over the cliff which meant her body was more relaxed during the impact.
She said: “Now I know that if I wasn’t asleep I probably wouldn’t have survived because the doctor said that meant my body was more relaxed."
The reality favourite added: “I am definitely going to need therapy for a while, and I’m going to try some in-patient treatment too. I know this will live with me forever, I need to take it slowly."
She first opened up on the terrifying ordeal after her return to the UK on Friday and revealed she was forced to “snap her arm” in a bid to survive the crash.
The TV star described “snapping” her own arm to try and save herself and good friend Jake.
She told The Sun: “It was lay there and bleed to death, or snap my own arm to try to save us.”
She continued: “We were just tumbling for what seemed like forever. It felt like I was going round in a washing machine — just round and round.
“Then eventually it stopped and my right arm was jammed.
“The car was upside down. It had an open sunroof and my right arm was just stuck behind my back and under the folded back of the car roof.
“I tried to honk the horn with my foot and I couldn’t do.”
She then tried to wake up Jake – whom she thought was just unconscious – with her saying she "didn’t want to admit it to myself that he could be dead".
