A previously unseen video filmed before Paul Cattermole’s sudden death saw the S Club 7 star appearing to be in positive form as he spoke to fellow tarot readers.

The singer was tragically found dead at his flat in Dorset on Thursday, with the news leaving his ex-girlfriend Hannah Spearritt and her fellow bandmates in ‘shock’.

The news came soon after S Club 7 announced their 25th anniversary tour, with a source claiming that Paul was very ‘excited’ to be reuniting with his bandmates.

Now, an unseen YouTube video filmed in December and obtained by MailOnline has shown Paul looking to be in good form as he socialised with tarot readers.

In what became Paul’s final TV project, the singer joined psychic Madonna Viviani and others for a nighttime visit into Grovely Wood in southern Wiltshire.

Gary Rogers, who produced the episode and posted it on his YouTube channel, said Paul was a ‘really nice guy’ and a ‘kind soul’, while he had been very ‘positive’ about filming the tour of the ancient woods.

Speaking about the unaired footage, Gary explained it was a filming experiment which they recorded to try out ideas that they hoped might work for television.

Paul made a living as a tarot card reader after quitting S Club 7 in 2002 and launched a YouTube channel called Tarot Me This in 2021, reinventing himself as a ‘spiritual psychic detective’.

He continued to explore his passion as he joined his friend Madonna as they headed into the woods for the nighttime visit, with Paul appearing to be in good form.

The singer was seen smiling and making jokes as he made his fellow tarot readers laugh during the trip, which saw them set up candles and hold hands in a circle as they explored their spiritual interests.

The group also used sage to clear negative energy, performed a séance and Paul was seen standing nearby as Madonna and other people used a Ouija board.

In one lighthearted moment during the previously unaired episode, Paul was seen making the group laugh as he recalled a spiritual-themed meme he had seen online.

He told the group: ‘I did see a meme once that someone put online and it was them lying in a stick of sage and it was like “you know sometimes when you want to clear the negative energy out your room, and you realise, it’s you”.’

Paul was also seen flashing a smile as Gary, who was filming, was heard saying: ‘Paul is the centre of the universe right now.’

Speaking about meeting Paul, Gary – whose son also joined them on the trip – said he was a ‘really nice guy’ and sweetly described him as a ‘genuinely kind soul’.

‘Paul instantly came across as a really nice guy,’ he told MailOnline. ‘Paul said that he was excited in the same way that you felt when you first sit on a fair ride or rollercoaster, that nervous anticipation and excitement all rolled into one.’

‘It was great talking to Paul on the walk back and getting to know the man and the legend from S Club 7,’ he added.

‘He was such a genuinely kind soul. Needless to say we are all incredibly devastated by the news of his death and our thoughts go out to his friends and loved ones.’

Ahead of the woodland trip, Amir Jardan – a ghost hunt regular – told the Bournemouth Echo: ‘Paul is very into it. He has his own tarot cards and his own YouTube channel. He’s very spiritual.’

After quitting S Club 7 in 2002, Paul made a living as a tarot card reader after falling on hard times.

He reinvented himself as a ‘spiritual psychic detective’, earning money by charging £39.99 for reading on a spiritual website.

In 2021, Paul launched a YouTube channel called Tarot Me This, where he called upon fans to make a donation in exchange for a reading, explaining ‘clairvoyance’ was his new line of work.

He later revealed he hid his psychic abilities from the rest of S Club 7 because he feared it would make him sound ‘crazy’.

Paul previously explained how he enters rooms and reads the ‘energy within them’, adding that the older he’s got, the better he’s able to ‘process’ what’s going on.

After leaving his pop career behind, Paul spend a decade honing his skills to build his career, but told how his abilities first surfaced in his teens, before growing more ‘intense’ in his 20s.

But at the height of his fame during his time in S Club, Paul admitted he couldn’t tell the truth about his abilities for fear of sounding insane.

He said: ‘I didn’t know what it was but I was getting premonitions of certain things. I would see photos of people in newspapers and certain things about them would jump out of the image.

‘Then in my 20s it got more intense, but I could never tell anyone, even my bandmates, because it would sound like I’m crazy.’

In February, Paul spoke to MailOnline about his hopes for ‘new beginnings’ and ‘good luck’ ahead, revealing he’d studied his tarot cards.

He told MailOnline: ‘I saw wheel of fortune – that’s good, that’s good luck. I genuinely did look at the cards.

‘There were other cards as well, ace of clubs – passion, new beginnings, your cup over-runeth with genuinely passionate emotion.

‘It’s positivity – something to be passionate about.’

‘We are heartbroken but so grateful for the memories we all shared, an absolute shining star who we will love and miss always. RIP darling Paul.’

Earlier in the day, fellow bandmate Tina Barrett, 46, wrote a poem in memory of Paul whom she described as a ‘shining star, full of character and life’.

She wrote: ‘Thank you for all your well wishes and support in this tragic time. I wrote a poem for Paul I’d like to share with you all…

‘Paul Cattermole, A shining star.

‘While strumming the guitar, He reached for the stars

‘Farewell sweet Paul, Your star shines so bright, Forever in our hearts

‘Sleep well and Goodnight, Miss you Cattermole love Tina.’

Tina accompanied the moving poem with a photo from when they were on tour. The band surrounded Paul as he played on the guitar.

It comes after S Club 7 issued a joint statement following Paul’s death, saying he will ‘never be forgotten’.

The group shared a heartfelt message on their Instagram on Saturday along with a photo of Paul taken during the group’s heyday.

They wrote: ‘Thank you to all our incredible fans and friends who have shared their love for our brother Paul.

‘In this difficult time for all of us, it gives us strength to know he’ll never be forgotten.’

On behalf of Paul’s family, the group also said that fans could make a donation to the National Youth Music Theatre , which Paul attended during his childhood.

They wrote: ‘In lieu of flowers, Paul’s family have requested that anyone who would like to can join us in making a donation in his honour to the National Youth Music Theatre, an organisation that brought Paul so much joy growing up.’

In a joint statement on Friday, Paul’s family and S Club 7 said: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

‘Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

‘While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time.’

The Mail revealed that on Friday morning, a member of the group’s manager Simon Fuller’s team called the six members – Hannah, 42, Rachel, 44, Tina, 46, Jon Lee, 40, Jo, and Bradley McIntosh, 41 – to tell them the news.

S Club 7 have vowed that their 25th anniversary tour will go ahead and is likely to include a tribute to Paul.

Sources close to the band say while it is too early to publicly make a decision over how their 11 concerts will proceed, they want them to take place because the late singer was so excited about them.

The Mail on Sunday revealed Paul was one of the first of the seven stars to agree to take part in the reunion shows.

One insider said: ‘Paul was so excited, though he seemed awkward on the outside he was looking forward to reliving some of the old, happy times with the group.

‘That’s why there are some members of S Club 7 who are determined the tour goes on. To them, it seems the perfect way to pay tribute to him.

‘There have been some meetings and some of the group are inconsolable, they are in pieces. It has all come as such a big shock to them.’
