Vanessa Feltz’s world was turned upside down at the start of the year when she split from Phats and Small singer Ben Ofoedu, 50, after he was unfaithful. Since then, Vanessa, 61, has been keeping fans updated with how she is doing and opened up to Express.co.uk about the “lifeline that is keeping her afloat”.

The TalkTV presenter said: “You know, I’ve just been through this horrible romantic implosion which has been absolutely horrific.

“Other women have been so amazing to me; both the ones I don’t know who have reached out to me on Instagram – literally hundreds of thousands of them – and the ones I do know, my actual friends, my family, my daughters and also lots of showbiz women that I have worked with over the years.

“They have taken the time to send messages and actually be there for me.

“It is a real example of, you know, when you are going through a difficult time in life, how support from other women can be the lifeline that really keeps you afloat when you think you might be going under.”

As for how she is doing now, Vanessa says that while it is “not easy”, she is trying to “walk the walk”.

She continued: “I’m finding the experience, the joy, the fun, the adventure.

“[I won’t] just sit there listening to sad music eating loads of cake and ice cream, even if that is what I really feel like doing.

“I just think, once I do that, that way madness and misery lie.

“It doesn’t mean that I don’t feel all the other stuff because of course I do.

“It doesn’t mean that when I walk into the door of the house on my own I don’t feel engulfed in all the sadness and all the disappointment that everybody else feels when they have a broken relationship.

“It’s no joke, mine was 16 years long so it is no joke at all.”

Nevertheless, defiant Vanessa says she does not want to “squander a single day” of her life to “total sadness” if she can think of any other way of using it.
