Brigitte Macron is admired by many for her impeccable style and is considered a fashion icon since becoming the Frech First Lady.
French designer Lola Rykiel said people love her style because it looks like she hasn’t tried too hard, which according to her, is what Parisian style is all about.
She explained: “It’s the unspoken rule. Never look like you’ve spent hours staring at yourself in the mirror, even if that’s exactly what you’ve been doing.
“It’s about casually pulling together a subtle but amazing outfit – and it’s this that foreigners are fascinated by.
“But perhaps also sometimes get wrong when they’re trying to look stereotypically French.”
Brigitte Macron, who used to be a high school teacher before marrying the French president, once said: “I always put a lot of effort into the way I present myself: just ask my children or my students.”
She also admitted that she is “really into fashion” and “there is this fascination the world over with what French women wear”.
Brigitte met Emmanuel Macron when she was her high school teacher at the age of 40 and when he was just 15.
However, they didn’t get married until 2007 after she divorced in 2006. In an interview with the magazine Madame Figaro, she said: “I have learned not to speak openly to anyone, anywhere and anytime, which took a huge effort from me because I speak easily.
“The French did not want me [as opposed to her husband, whom they elected], I am perfectly aware of that.”
