THERE'S nothing worse then washing you clothes only to find they smell even worse then before they went in.

Luckily there's a simple and cheap solution to combat smelly clothes and washing machines.

Cleaning fanatics shared their top tips to keep your washing machine clean and keep your clothes smelling amazing.

Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, 32, has long been a favourite amongst fellow cleaning enthusiasts, with close to 4.5 million followers on Instagram.

The star rose to fame a few years ago with various home hacks and now her fans have even started dedicated cleaning pages on social media.

In one such group, Mrs Hinch Cleaning tips and tricks on Facebook, a member sought advice: How does everyone get their washing to smell amazing?

“I use pods, fabric conditioner and scent boosters in the wash but they still don’t smell good.

There are plenty of reasons your clothes and washing machine can have a bad odour despite using laundry products – in fact these could be the reason why.

A build up of fabric softener and detergent can clog filters and create a build up of bacteria in the washing machine causing a musky smell.

And cleaning fanatics were quick to offer up their solutions reports the Express – and many claimed white vinegar was the best product to use.

One wrote: "Use white vinegar instead of fabric softener and use powder inside the drum, it’s great.”

"I use white vinegar," another added.

A third penned: "Always use white vinegar. Your laundry will smell amazing, even if it does seem weird."

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: " “Line dry your clothes, tumble drying takes a lot of the scent off.”

"Tumble dryer will take the scent off," a fifth agreed.

White vinegar can banish unpleasant odours from your clothes and the washing machine.
