Gardeners rave about 37p buy that stops slugs and snails attacking your plants | The Sun

GARDENING fans are raving about a 37p hack to stop slugs and snails ruining your plants.

Every year when Spring comes around, green-fingered Brits are scrambling for advice on how to stop the pests munching on their lovingly grown fruits and vegetables.

According to the Royal Horticultural Society, it’s one of its most frequently asked questions.

And while the charity said it is still looking for the most effective method to stop slimers in their tracks, some gardeners think they’ve already cracked it.

Julie Moore took to Facebook group Veg Gardening UK to share her “top tip” of placing a metal scourer around the stem of her plants to stop slugs and snails from reaching it.

She penned: “I used this method last year.

“It worked well, using the same scourers again this year.

“Roll the scourer onto the pot, then plant out into the soil.

“No more slugs and snails.”

Alongside an image of how it looks in practice, Ms Moore further revealed that the hack costs just 37p a pop.

She bought a 48 pack of ZHEZHE Specialist Stainless Steel Scourer Pack for £8.99 last year and is using the same ones this Spring.

The cheap price means each plant will cost just 37p to save from the slimy critters.

The scourers are made of stainless steel and each one has a 5cm diameter.

They are also 2.5cm thick, which makes it stricky for the pests to slide over.

Fellow gardeners were blown away by Ms Moore's innovative idea and weighed in what plants they were going to save from slugs with the hack.

Hailey Cullen said: “Great idea, I've ordered these because my courgettes, cucumbers and pumpkins are being massacred nightly!”

Sam Reid added: “Amazing, well done and even better for sharing.

“I am so about to give up growing veg and flowers as they are just destroyed by them.
