AFTER seeing a viral video of Sofia Richie’s slick back bun technique, a hair pro has issued an urgent warning to people.
Rachel Valentine, who is a hair and scalp expert, took to her social media to share her thoughts over Sofia’s routine, which the model calls her “sleek lazy girl bun”.
Sofia, 25, does the hairstyle while her mane is wet. She first parts her hair from the middle before using a hair mask to coat her entire head.
She then parts the front sections of her hair and clips them before using a brush to tie the back of her hair up into a tight ponytail.
Sofia then uses the same brush to move the front section back to add into the ponytail. Using the hair mask, she smooths down any imperfections at the front and wraps the ponytail back into a bun.
“Because it started wet, it is so secured onto your head,” she told fans.

And though she swears it’s the routine that helped her hair grow over the Covid lockdown periods, hair professional Rachel wasn’t so sure about it.
Taking to her TikTok account (@rachelvalentinehair), she said: “I’m sure you’ve seen Sofia Richie’s latest post where she does her slicked back bun and shows you how to do it.
“Yes, it looks amazing. However, this is going to be so damaging if you do this to your hair and the reason for that is because she’s doing it while her hair is wet.”
She went on: “Our hair is like an elastic band and when it’s wet, it’s really stretchy. If you think about the more you’re going to be stretching that elastic band and putting it under stress, the more likely it is to break.

“Lesson learned!!”
