WHEN it comes to expressing feelings of love, finding the right words can be tricky and with each heart emoji holding a different meaning, you can easily share your sentiments or feelings.

Google published its new Unicode 15.0 standard in September 2022, releasing the long-awaited pink heart and 30 other new emojis.

What do different heart emojis mean?

According to a Wired report, each of these heart icons has a very different meaning…

Pink heart

Meaning

The pink heart is a sincere and unromantic representation of love from one person to another.

Use

Much like the red heart, the pink heart shows the genuine care one person feels for another, with the difference that it is for platonic relationships in your life. It is best reserved for friends and family or with a person with whom you may be in the new stages of a relationship.

Used in the opposite context to the red heart, this black icon can represent morbidity or sorrow, or simply fit a darker aesthetic.

Yellow heart

Meaning

When the shape is colored yellow or gold it signifies happiness and friendship.

Use

On Snapchat, this heart appears beside the name of the person you snap with the most, implying they're one of your best friends.
