How Maya Jama’s jaw-dropping Love Island outfits broke the internet as host promises to return with even sexier wardrobe | The Sun

MAYA Jama has long been showbiz royalty – and there's no doubt she's a fashion queen, too.

Her styling chops really came under the spotlight when she took over from Laura Whitmore as the new presenter of Love Island earlier this year, with her internet-breaking outfits frequently selling out.

With the ITV2 show set to return on Monday June 5, the Bristol-born star is keen to make sure her stunning wardrobe steals the limelight once more.

Maya told The Sun: “The pressure is on for my stylist because the dresses did very well last series.

“We haven’t decided yet, but I’ve said that I want to look beachy, sexy and fun."

From sexy cut-out frocks that showed off her incredible figure to scene-stealing red carpet numbers, here we look back at the outfits that prove Maya's got the Midas touch.

300% sales increase

Maya made a huge impact on her Island debut when she stepped out of a helicopter in Cape Town wearing a red crochet two-piece set.

The co-ord was handmade by entrepreneur Sierra Ndagire, who says she stayed up all night to make sure it was just perfect.

Since the episode aired in January, the designer says she experienced a huge boost in sales and interest.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "It was shocking, very exciting, I didn't care if she wore it or not, the request alone was a big complement. I've been a big fan of hers."

She had so many people putting in requests for the £200 outfits in different colours that it led to a 300 per cent increase in sales.

Clicks on her website also shot up by 1,000 per cent. Worth the late night, Sierra!

Sold out

In the same episode she wore the crochet dress, Maya also appeared in a figure-hugging cut-out black piece that almost broke the internet.

The star looked breath-taking in a £1,500 maxi dress by Mônot, the luxury label by Eli Mizrahi.

It featured a halter neck and had raunchy cut-outs and a thigh-high slit, displaying her incredible mid-riff and long legs.

Dozens of people took to the internet to gush over how stunning she looked as she sashayed down the walkway to speak to the new Islanders.

Fans hoping to shop the look were left disappointed as shortly after the scenes aired, the dress had already sold out.

Show stealer

On the February 16 episode of Love Island, Maya once again had all eyes on her as she entered the villa in a red satin bodysuit and matching velvet wrap-around skirt.

The two-piece by American designer LaQuan Smith – who has dressed the likes of Beyonce – remains one of her most talked about looks.

It featured an asymmetric bodysuit with a high neck, completed with a draped shoulder and numerous cut-outs – clearly a favourite of hers.

She also had a midi-length wrap skirt which perfectly accentuated her curvy frame.

While the skirt could still be found on the designer's website for £745, the bodysuit appears to have sold out.

Fanci number

While many anxious Islanders trembled in fear at the sight of Maya, viewers at home were always guaranteed a treat, thanks to her incredible wardrobe.

During a double eviction, she looked mesmerising in a semi-sheer dress by up-and-coming fashion label Fanci Club, loved by celebs including Dua Lipa.

Maya once again proved red is her colour with the dress, which had a floral design on the left side of her shoulder and a plunging neckline.

After she was seen in that particular colour, it completely sold out, with many fans having to turn to dupes of it.

In demand

During the show's initial coupling up, Maya made an excellent first impression in a splendid blue and green tie-dye dress by Roberto Cavalli.

It featured all of Maya's go-to fashion details – a plunging neckline, figure-hugging, and a tiered ruffle skirt.

But despite being part of the high-end designer's Resort 2023 collection and in high demand, it was not readily available to buy.

Instead, several publications offered readers similar versions they could purchase.

Influencing dupes

Maya was praised for introducing luxury brands to the show, which has had long-standing partnerships with fast-fashion outlets such as I Saw It First and Oh Polly.

But many of the items she wore were extremely pricey, with some going into the thousands.

As a result, a number of brands came up with dupes, including Pretty Little Thing, which was slammed for trying to recreate her Mônot dress.

Going for just £28, eagle-eyed fans were quick to call out the firm, with one tweeting: "No one is pulling this off like queen Maya so behave."

Another quipped: "When you copy the A-star student and get an F."

Red carpet ready

Maya Jama's fashion track record dates back to the start of her career.

She has appeared in several red carpet best-dressed lists and has always made a statement – whether she's on or off Love Island.

Last week, she showed up at the British Vogue party at Cannes Film Festival in a show-stopping see-through lace dress, which featured a low-cut neck and a dramatic high slit.

And for the Brit Awards, she flashed an underboob in a daring Mônot frock that also showed off her toned abs.
