WHILE many of us are pleased to bask in the sun during summer, the heat does bring some unwanted visitors into our homes.
But there's one main insect that is likely to cause an annoying distraction – flies.
Aside from the heat and light in our houses, common house flies are attracted to decaying organic filth such as that in our rubbish bins or rotting meat.
While fruit flies look for sugary substances and feed more commonly on overripe fruit, spilt fizzy drinks and alcohol.
Luckily, there is a cheap and quick fix costing under a £1 to keep the pesky insects away.

And the easy method can even be free if you already have the items at home.
Simply find an empty plastic bottle and cut it in half, with the bottom half slightly taller than the top, according to Good Housekeeping.
Next, remove the bottle cap and fill the bottom with water.
You may want to add a splash of vinegar to ward off bees, and then stick the top half upside down in the bottom half of the bottle, giving it a funnel shape.

Spread some sugar water around the mouth of the bottle to attract the pests, before punching two holes at the top of the bottle to put string through so you can hang the trap where you please.
The home experts say this is a great natural way to get rid of all types of flies without using chemicals.
What’s more, it’s a cheap hack as sugar can be purchased from Asda for 89p.
You can also use honey and syrup but these may cost a bit more.
Whatever sweet bait you've chosen, flies will smell it and zoom straight into your homemade contraption to get to it.
But once inside, they are easily trapped as they fly down the neck of the bottle.
The pests will becomestuck because they can't navigate back up the narrow opening and they are unable to fly if their wings get wet.
This trap also works to lure and kill wasps, according to the home advice outlet.
Most wasps are also attracted to sweets, so honey, syrup and sugar water will work for them as well.
Filling the bottle with decomposing old fruit will also do the trick just fine.
But as a last resort, you can always swap sweet bait for rotting meat or animal droppings – such as rabbit pellets or chicken litter – to complete the job.
