A WOMAN has opened up about the furious rows she’s had with her neighbours over the swimming pool in her garden.
The homeowner explained that she’d bought a property, complete with an outside swimming pool, and couldn’t wait to try it out.
However, she continued to say that it had become the bane of her life after her neighbours accused her of being selfish for not letting them splash around in it too.
Ever since, she’s been questioning whether she was being unreasonable about her garden, or if they were the ones in the wrong.
And it had been bothering her so much that she decided to ask other people their opinion.
Opening up about the clash in a Reddit thread, she explained: “My spouse (45) and I (46) bought a house in February with a pool.

“We have friends over occasionally and we enjoyed having people over for food, drinks, and of course swimming pool parties now that the weather allows for it.
“We fit in with the neighbourhood – or so we thought – until neighbours from three surrounding homes and us got into a weird conversation around their expectations to access the pool for weekend and holidays pool parties.”
The woman then shared how the previous owners of the house allowed their neighbours and their children to access the pool whenever they wanted.
She said: “The gate was always open and they even had their inflatables nearby and had arranged to pay for the maintenance of the pool.”

However, the couple decided this was not a tradition they wanted to keep up, and let their neighbours down gently – and it didn’t go down well.
She continued: “We told them that we're fairly private people and enjoy our privacy and don't see ourselves letting neighbours have access to our backyard whenever they want.
“Each time any of us are wandering around outside, they just ask over and over and try to sell the idea of having access to it. They offer money and share the maintenance fees and such.”
And it hasn’t stopped at just one altercation, as she revealed they now repeatedly pester both her and her partner, nagging them to change their mind.
She went on: “I was trying to enjoy gardening and was cornered once again. I just really firmly told them that they really need to stop talking about the pool each time they see us, stood up and left.
“As I was walking back towards the gate to the backyard (within our property line), they were following me, taking my ears off. One of the ladies/mums was STILL going on and on because 'she asked nicely and offered to pay for the maintenance and that she really didn't understand why I was so against it".

“I turned around and asked them to leave now and never follow me on my property ever again.”
Showing that she was at the end of her tether with the situation, the Reddit member said: “We politely decline over and over. And we are seriously getting tired of the nagging and the pool and their access to it being the only thing they want to connect with us about.
“We had a party yesterday evening and as I was showing the front yard to my friend, my neighbour popped up and was talking about how it must be nice to be invited to enjoy the pool. And I said to her ‘Can you go now? I'm having company.’”
She then questioned whether she was horrible for not wanting to compromise on the pool – and was met with a near unanimous response.
One person said: “Those are some entitled persistent neighbours.”
A second added: “That's some annoying neighbours you got –can't believe there are people out there with so little shame.
“They don't need to "understand why you are against it" you are against it and that's it.”
