WHENEVER you see labour depicted in the movies, the mum-to-be somehow always looks absolutely radiant and only the tiniest bit uncomfortable.
But in reality, most women's experience of childbirth is more like something out of horror film – unless you're one of the fortunate few like mum-of-two Nikolina .
Writing for 9Honey, the journalist – who recently welcomed her second baby – explained how her doctors said her birth was the "quickest they've seen in years".
As this was the second time round for Nikolina, she knew her labour might be quicker than the first one – but she was not prepared for it to be quite so "hard and fast".
Asking other mums "not to hate" her, she wrote: "I never would have imagined however, it would all go down in three hours and two pushes."
After waking up early in the morning with cramps, Nikolina called her midwife for advice and was told to monitor them at home.

Determined not to change her plans, the mum decided to still go for brunch with her toddler and friends.
But on the walk home, Nikolina's cramps started worsening and she took herself to bed to watch some reality TV.

Half an hour later, it dawned on the mum that she really was in labour and so the family rushed to the hospital.
Although Nikolina feared she'd left it too late to have any pain relief, she was still able to have an epidural and was told she was already 5cm dilated.
The nurse then recommended the mum get some rest before it was time to push.
"Exactly two minutes later my midwife noticed that his heart rate was dropping each time I had a contraction," the mum explained. "She rushed out to grab a doctor."
Suddenly, she was surrounded by doctors and Nikolina's mind started racing – but it then dawned on the team that her baby was "waiting" to enter the world.
One push later, the doctors told the mum she was "nearly there" – and by the end of the second, her beautiful baby was born.

She added: "Baby Leo was on my chest, the doctors were clapping in celebration and my husband looked like he had just walked off a rollercoaster he wasn't prepared was going to drop that fast.
"Here I was cuddling my newborn son two minutes after tucking myself in for a nap."
