I gave birth to whopper 11lb and 8oz baby but forgot to use gas and air as I was concentrating too much | The Sun

CHILDBIRTH without the use of drugs or gas and air fill some people with excitement and others with terror. But one new mum has opened up about how she welcomed her baby girl weighing a whopping 11lb and 8oz completely naturally.

Holly Cox, 32, said she “forgot” to use the pain relief because she was “concentrating so much”.

The florist from Steyning, West Sussex, gave birth to daughter Billie Andrews on 30 September after two nights and three days in hospital.

The average weight for a baby girl born in the UK is 7lb and 4oz – but Billie weighed in at almost double.

Holly told The Sun: "I actually forgot the gas and air was there.

“It wasn't until the next day and I was having paracetamol that the nurse said, "didn't you have any gas and air?" and I said "oh no I forgot that was actually there on the side".

“I was concentrating so much, you just go into this little zone of contractions and the pain I just forgot it was there until the next day."

Holly, who has daughter Halle, 11, from a previous relationship, said her bump was a “normal size” and so wasn’t expecting Billie to be so big.

“At one point they were measuring me and they said that she was measuring small,” laughed Holly.

Her partner Luke Andrews, also 32, said: “She was just so brave to have had that birth and that size baby and remained super calm throughout the whole thing.

“Towards the end she just got the job done without much fuss.

“We were a bit surprised by the weigh-in – it was like we’d given birth to a toddler!”

The call centre director added: “She’s a tough, strong girl. Mentally, she was just able to control herself really well.

“It probably comes from putting up with me!”

The couple, who both have a child from previous relationships, have known each other since primary school and have dated on and off for around six years.
