CHOOSING a name for your child is a very hard decision for any parent to make.
While some will go down the traditional route and choose a classic name for their baby, others may want to name their child after something a bit more unique.
But the bottom line is, you want your child to love their name, and everyone else to think it’s sweet too, right?
One mum has taken to TikTok to reveal that she gave her child a traditional name, but with a slight twist and it’s left people very annoyed.
Posting under the username ‘deardafni’, the mum-of-one revealed that she wanted to give her daughter a traditional name, but combine it with her husband’s Greek heritage.
As a result, instead of calling her daughter Daphne, she chose to spell her daughter’s name Dafni instead.

TikTok users were left divided over the young child’s name – while many thought it was beautiful and really liked the unique spelling, others didn’t agree with the spelling of the traditional name.
One person said: “Daphne/Dafni, beautiful name anyway”.
Another added: “I love that spelling!! Super pretty”.
A third commented: “Never seen it spelt like that before, I kinda like it, it's a bit of a nod to her heritage”.
Someone else questioned: “People…why do they ruin something lovely with their opinions? She’s beautiful”.
Another added: “It’s just a Greek name I’m sorry people are so mean about it” to which the mum explained “Aw yeah! I didn’t choose the spelling as my husband is Greek and said it is spelt this way”.
However, one person commented: “However it’s spelled it’ll sound the same. But to me, the spelling Dafni looks less elegant and a bit pedestrian. But not my child, so my opinion”.
