I transformed my backyard on a budget by gardening – there's a certain time of year to shop and save hundreds | The Sun

A HOMEOWNER has shared how she transformed her backyard on a budget.

She said there's a certain time of the year to shop and save hundreds on garden supplies.

The home expert (@craftinalltrades) shared the video with her TikTok followers.

"Here are three tips that I use to save hundreds and hundreds of dollars while transforming all of my gardens," she said.

First, she explained that she always shops at the end of the season, which is how she's managed to completely transform her entire backyard.

"I've never paid full price for a single time," she said.

She showed off items that she got deeply discounted, including large planters for just $5, normally priced around $20.

Second, she recommended checking bags of flower bulbs for just a few dead bulbs and requesting a discount from the customer service desk.

"Ask them if they'd sell it to you for less than the marked-down price," she said.

"For example, I got 80 daffodils, 80 of these, for $5, it's normally $20 for 40 of them," she said.

Last but not least, the expert said she shops around and likes to take her time by making a day of it.

"I will go to multiple stores and multiples of the same kind of stores," she said.

She explained that after she purchased the daffodils from Lowe's, she went to a different Lowe's and discovered that they had an entire wall of discounted flower bulbs.

"75 percent off, completely good, not a single one dried out or rotten and I got them for $1.25 each," she said.
