THERE'S a reason Rob Rivera calls himself the "DIY Daddy" – the man is a pro at dirt-cheap home makeovers, many of which are renter-friendly.
In his latest home upgrade, Rivera transformed his boring bathroom into a personalized spa space, and all he needed was a combo of thrifty finds and Dollar Tree staples.
Rivera posted a step-by-step look at his bathroom transformation to TikTok, where he has over 185k followers.
To start his bathroom overhaul, Rivera shared one of the most vital items on his shopping list: tape.
"I created two geo walls using Dollar Tree electrical tape," Rivera explained. Using a black tape that contrasted with the walls meant Rivera didn't need to use paint.
He decorated two walls entirely in shapes and lines, before moving on to create a smaller accent on one of the other sides.

"I wanted to break from the pattern so it wasn't overwhelming, so I took this long mirror and hung it on its side," Rivera explained.
Then, he used more tape to create a simple geo shape that framed the mirror, keeping the look throughout the room consistent.
Continuing to use reflective surfaces to expand the space, Rivera hung several circular Dollar Tree mirrors above the pantry.
Rivera said the round mirrors acted as a contrast to the sharp lines in the room and served as a similar accent to the other mirrored wall.

To emphasize the circular theme element, Rivera hung up an $11 shower curtain from Target, dotted with similar shapes.
"I accessorized using mostly Dollar Tree items," Rivera said, but along with the Target shower curtain, he did add one more "splurge" piece – a $12 faux plant from TJ Maxx.
The rest of the plants Rivera decorated with were from the Dollar Tree, and because they were so expensive, he was able to deck out the whole bathroom with them.
When he finished, Rivera had fake plants along the vanity countertop and others spilling over the top of the pantry.
His plants gave the bathroom a spa-like feeling with very little maintenance required.
The combination of Dollar Tree items and thrifty retails finds created "a big change on a small budget," he said. Rivera spent less than $30 in total.
"It's fun, modern, and has tons of personality," Rivera said, and he was able to do the bathroom overhaul without breaking the bank.
