The Masked Dancer UK 2022 cast: Who is taking part in the ITV series? | The Sun

THE Masked Dancer has finally reached the last stage of its competition with only four celebrities left to be unmasked.

This season has seen some of its craziest and wildest costumes than ever before, but there can only be one crowned winner.

Who is on The Masked Dancer 2022?

ITV has lined-up 12 participants dressed in crazy costumes for the toe-tapping spin-off to The Masked Singer.

A duo will compete in an all-new twist in the second outing for the star-spangled guessing game.

The famous faces behind each mask will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of series one Masked Dancer winner, Olympic gymnast Louis Smith.

We introduce the wacky contestants and the celebrities that have been unmasked…

Pillar and Post

The show’s first-ever double act Pillar and Post has surely delivered a First Class performance.

In the opening episode, Pillar and Post performed a Jazz routine together to Please Mr. Postman by the Marvelettes.

Viewers were quick to guess David Seaman and Frankie Poultney, who met on Dancing On Ice as being hidden under the mask.

Sadly the duo had to leave the show due to a medical injury and were indeed revealed to be football legend David Seaman and ice skater Frankie Poultney.

Frankie said of leaving the competition: “We were gutted as we absolutely loved every minute! It was great fun but a tumble meant our Masked journey came to an end too soon, we had such a blast and we were sad that we had to hang up our masks without being able to share our final dance with you all!

“We have loved being part of this series and we wish the other competitors the best of luck as we continue to watch at home and try to guess who all the other celebrities are!”

Pig

Pig jigged away to Katrina And The Waves' hit song Walking On Sunshine in a battle with Sea Slug.

But it was the porker who lost out in the audience vote – ending up in the bottom three before being chosen by the judges to be unmasked.

At first, many believed it to be Jimmy Doherty or Kaleb Cooper from Clarkson’s Farm inside the costume.

However, when she was unmasked, Pig was revealed to be Gavin And Stacey actress Joanna Page.

Candlestick

In the first episode of the series, Candlestick performed to Relight My Fire by Take That.

Candlestick also performed routines to Dangerous Love by Fuse ODG, That’s What I Want by Lil Nas X and Finesse by Bruno Mars.

Clues that were revealed in the ITV show suggested that Candlestick was a writer and enjoyed hanging out with their chums.

But after many guesses that included Judge Rinder and Keith Lemon, The Great British Bake Off star Liam Charles was unveiled as the Candlestick.

Liam first rose to fame on the Great British Bake Off and now hosts its Professionals spin-off and judges on Junior Bake Off.

Onomatopoeia

Bright character Onomatopoeia is all about words that are associated with sounds.

So far, Onomatopoeia has performed to Bad Habits by Ed Sheeran, Pump It/Boom Boom Pow by the Black Eyed Peas, Flashdance (What A Feeling) by Irene Cara and Canned Heat by Jamiroquai.

From the clues given so far, fans have been busy guessing who they think Onomatopoeia is.

The main guesses are David Tennant and Simon Bird

Tomato Sauce

Tomato Sauce has been unmasked as Steph McGovern on The Masked Dancer.

McGovern was a popular guess with the judges by the time she was unmasked, although she did throw them off the scent with food references that related to her chat show Steph's Packed Lunch.

Her routines also confused viewers by including Irish dancing and she explained: "I did Irish dancing as a kid and if someone had said to me back then you're going to get to perform this on a shiny floor dressed as a massive bottle of tomato sauce…!"

Cactus

Hoping to prickle your fancy is lean, green dancing machine, Cactus.

The judges seemed sure that cactus was a member of McFly – with Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter being amongst the guesses.

However, the judges were left surprised to see choir supremo Gareth Malone unmasked instead.

"I have had so much fun. The last time I danced I was 7 and I danced with a broom in the school play. I mean, I danced, I danced," Gareth said upon his unveiling.

Prawn Cocktail

Prawn Cocktails have kicked off many an eighties dinner party.

There had been plenty of guesses over recent weeks including Rebecca Adlington, Sheridan Smith, and even Beverley Callard from Coronation Street.

However, Judges were left stunned when Stacey Dooley was unmasked, with Oti Mabuse and Jonathan Ross arguing over who threw her name into the mix first.

Odd Socks

From the clues given, fans had been busy guessing who they think Odd Socks is.

The main guesses were Nadia Sawalha, Emma Willis, Jessie Wallace, and Maisie Smith.

But it was Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh revealed to be Odd Socks

Odd Socks was unmasked after the dance jam, after which host Joel Dommett revealed there had been a Girls Aloud nod in every single clue package.

After her reveal, Walsh said: “I did this for my kids, they love this show.

"They have no idea. I had to pick Odd Socks, I’m a mum of three boys, that’s my life.”

Pearly King

Pearly King has had Masked Dancer fans talking in recent episodes as they desperately try to work out the mystery celeb's identity.

Described as "the beast from the East End" and wearing a suit with, some fans think an actor could be showing off their dancing skills.

Yet, the mystery celebrity – who has been guessed as Danny Dyer, Shane Richie and Tom Hardy – has failed to impress with their moves.

Scissors

Scissors will be cutting their own shapes on stage in a bid to be crowned the winner.

The crazy character has performed incredible dances each week.

And the judges got an additional clue when a box was unlocked and the number 45805 was inside.

Countless viewers were then certain the character was Heather Morris, who played Brittany S. Pierce in Glee.

That's because the number was the postcode – which in the US is always a five-digit number – was for the town of Lima in Ohio.

Sea Slug

Slithering and slurping its way on stage is this colourful character from under the sea.

A Team GB swimmer like Freya Anderson could've felt at home in this aquatic Sea Slug disguise.

However, viewers were left stunned as the headwear came off, and it was revealed that Olympic gold medalist Denise Lewis was behind the mask.

Denise admitted struggling with the secrecy and said: "That has been the most challenging part of doing the show – not being able to say a word."

Astronaut

We will all be disappointed if this moonwalker doesn’t pull off the Moon Walk.

But Astronaut's time on the show was short and sweet – after the judges chose the space star to remove their mask in the first episode of the new series.

And the celebrity panel couldn't believe their eyes when the famous face behind the crazy costume was unveiled.

Desperate Housewives and US actor Jesse Metcalfe was revealed as the man behind the mask – and everyone went crazy.

Who are the judges and host for season two of The Masked Dancer?

The show could not go on without its host and famous judges.

And there's a new face joining the line-up in 2022.

Peter Crouch – famed for his robot dance in his football days – is joining the judging panel as Mo Gilligan is out on tour.

But Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse and Davina McCall are all returning to the panel.

Joel Dommett is back as host, providing humour and commentary as the panel tries to guess who is behind the mask.

When is The Masked Dancer final?

The Masked Dancer finale will take place on Saturday, October 22, on ITV at 6.30 pm.

As it's a celebrity competition, the winner of The Masked Dancer does not receive any cash.
