I wanted a trendy side table but didn’t want to fork out hundreds – so I made one using a £12 set of mirrors from IKEA | The Sun

WITH Instagram and Pinterest constantly showing off pictures of people’s picturesque homes, it’s no surprise we’re all trying to find unique ways to elevate our own.

Luckily Anaïs Crt, known online as @anacrt0, has shared her latest DIY success, revealing how she turned a bargain set of IKEA mirrors into a luxe-looking side table – and it only cost her £12.

In a new TikTok reel, she said: “DIY mirror side table.”

During the 24-second video, the content creator revealed step-by-step how she made her bargain table using just two packs of their MADESJÖ mirrors and bargain corner braces.

She started by creating a cube using six of the mirrors, before securing the corner brackets in place with super glue.

Below the video, Anaïs explained that she also used scotch tape to hold the panels in place while the glue set.

I hated my council house’s old-fashioned kitchen so gave it a glow-up for £55

She then created a second cube using the same method, before gluing the two together to create the perfect height table to sit alongside her sofa.

Finally, she finished the look with a funky lamp and a potted plant.

Shoppers can pick up the MADESJÖ mirrors both online and at their local IKEA stores, with a pack of four costing just £12.

Similar style corner braces are available from various retailers, including Screwfix, with prices starting at just £1.29.

She’s not the only one sharing their savvy home projects online – Paul and George took to TikTok to share how they upcycled an antique mirror using sheets of pink leaf, and people are loving the finished result.

In a new reel, Paul said: “We bought this mirror from an antique shop. Cost about a tenner but needed a bit of a zhuzh.

“We had to start by masking up the glass because we don’t want to paint that, and then I used gilding paste on the frame.

“It’s gone a bit foamy, I’m still not sure why that happened.

“I bet you're wondering what colour it’s going to be though… oooh pink. Course it is.

“As you can see, I wasn’t particularly good at building the first layer so I ended up pressing a lot of it in which seemed to work fine.”

He continued: “Then I used a soft brush to brush it away which caused so much mess that my kitchen still looks like I’ve murdered Tinkerbell.

“Then I gave it a little varnish. Using spray varnish almost gave me heart failure but that’s another story for another time.

“Then it was time to rip off the paper that was protecting the glass and voila!

“Here it is in all its glory! Gorgeous.”

Fans loved his quick upcycle, with the video gaining more than 2,200 likes and 35,900 views.
