A WOMAN who was sick of her hair always looking greasy revealed how she keeps her locks looking luscious.

It turns out the answer is more simple than you might think – and it's to do with your trusty hairbrush.


Tessa Peay, from the US, explained that your hairbrush as well as any other combs and clips you use regularly need to be washed.

"Dirty hair tools can have product buildup and bacteria that can infect your scalp and make it greasy!"

Make sure to wash your hair tools weekly," she said.

In a clip she shared on Instagram, the hair whizz showed how she keeps her hairbrushes and tools as clean as possible.

The first step to to pull out as much hair from your brushes as you can.

You can use the end of a comb to do this, some tweezers, or just you hands.

Tessa then adds one tbsp of apple cider vinegar, baking soda and shampoo to sink full of warm water.

The add in your brushes and any other tools you want to clean – apart from electrical heat tools.

After 20 minutes you can use an old toothbrush to gently scrub everything before rinsing it all in clean water.

Leave everything on a clean towel to dry off and you repeat whenever your brushes are looking a bit worse for wear.

Tessa suggested weekly, but once a month should do the trick.

After sharing the hack on social media other hair fans couldn't wait to try it out.

One said: "Oh I've needed this thank you, literally been trying to figure out how I should wash them for days."

And a second commented: "I actually tried it you're so for real!"

"I always take my brush into the shower and brush through my shampooed hair, saves time and water," another suggested.
