I was recorded by a creep at the gym… he even zoomed the camera in on my stomach to fat shame me – I was horrified | The Sun

A WOMAN was left horrified when she spotted a man recording her as she worked out on the treadmill at the gym.

Evie took to TikTok to recall the shocking situation, which occurred when she was exercising at the fitness centre inside her apartment complex.

"Up until Friday there was literally never anyone else in there," she said.

"Friday rolls around, I go to the fitness centre and I’m surprised to see there’s a guy in there lifting weights.

"I know it’s uncomfortable to have more than one person in there because it is such a small space, but I was like, whatever, I’m going to be on cardio, he’s going to be on the weights, it’s fine.

"But he was visibly and audibly annoyed that I was in there – from the second I walked in he gave me multiple dirty up and downs and was just huffing and puffing and making me really uncomfortable."

She insisted she wasn't going to let the man intimidate her, and started picking up the pace on the treadmill.

"He’s sitting facing me, on the treadmill, with the mirror behind him, staring at his phone," she continued.

"There was something about his energy that was making me feel really uncomfortable.

"I wanted to get a peep at what he was doing but I didn’t want him to know that I was looking at him so I turned and looked at myself in the mirror and out of the corner of my eye, I see the reflection of what’s on his phone in the mirror and he is recording me.

"And not only is he recording me, he’s actually zooming in on my stomach."

Evie decided at that point that she had to confront him.

However, when she did, he denied it completely.

"I was like, ‘Dude, yes you were, I literally saw the reflection of your phone in the mirror.

"'If you’re going to record someone to publicly body shame them, at least don’t do it in front of a reflective surface, you f**king moron’.

"I didn’t actually say that, I was way too scared to say that.

"He kept ignoring me and I was like, ‘Let me just see your phone.

"If you weren’t recording me you’ll have no problem showing me your phone’, and I knew there was going to be a video on there."

After a "really, really long pause," he admitted that he recognised her from TikTok.

But when she repeatedly requested to see the video, he said no, before pushing past her and leaving the fitness centre.

Evie called her dad after the shocking situation, and he urged her to report it to the apartment complex officials, which she did the next day.

"Both of the leasing consultants were horrified," she said.

"Neither recognised the description of him as a resident, but one of them thought he might be the boyfriend of a girl who recently moved in, which means he’s not even allowed to use the fitness centre anyways."

She concluded her video by urging her followers to ignore the video if they came across it on social media.

"A teen girl did this to me at LA fitness 5 months after I had my son.. it was so mortifying. I’m glad you confronted him!!" one person commented on the video.

"As a property manager I would give someone a 30 day notice to move for lease violation," another added.

"You cannot feel unsafe in your own apartment community."
