I worked at Hooters – there’s a reason we can only wear an exact pair of tights | The Sun

THE finishing touch on Hooters' famous uniform is a pair of skin-toned tights that employees are required to wear no matter the season.

One ex-employee has revealed the real reason staff members wear the iconic tights and confessed she learned to love the controversial undergarment.

Christine Di'Amore, a YouTube personality who worked at the restaurant around 13 years ago, opened up about her experiences in a tell-all video.

Di'Amore said at first, she hated the tights, which employees are required to buy with their own money.

"I ended up getting hired on the spot and was given my very first Hooter girl uniform," she explained.

The ensemble included "the orange booty shorts, the overly-tight tank top, the white tube socks, and those God-awful tan tights," Di'Amore remembered.

But much to her surprise, Di'Amore "ended up loving" the pantyhose – and understanding why they're a required part of the uniform.

"They suck in your legs and they make you look constantly tan," she explained.

Plus, they make a server's beauty routine much simpler: "You don't even have to worry if you don't shave for a week," she said.

Even though she ditched the job years ago, along with the booty shorts and pantyhose, Di'Amore revealed she kept one of her uniform shirts – and it still fits.

"This is what I used to prance around in," she said, wearing the jersey-style T-shirt Hooters staff wears during football games.

In the comments section, viewers expressed gratitude to Di'Amore for sharing her employee secrets.

A few said they wouldn't mind trying out the uniform themselves.

"I love the uniform," one woman wrote, adding a note to say she wished to have an old uniform like Di'Amore's to wear around the house.

In the comments section, Di'Amore said that would be fine, as long as the employee left the uniform at home if she went anywhere besides work.

Hooters employees are "never allowed to wear the uniform out, unless we are working a Hooters promo job," she explained.

"We would have to either wear something over our uniforms on the way to work or get dressed in the bathroom," another ex-employee commented. "Couldn't leave in our uniforms either."

Despite the pricey tights and the sometimes-stressful workload, Di'Amore looked back on her time at Hooters fondly.

"I actually enjoyed being a Hooter girl," Di'Amore said, and added she considered it an "honor" to be a lifelong member of the Hooters family.
