I worked on a cruise ship, the four easiest jobs if you want to travel the world for free without qualifications | The Sun

DO you dream of sailing around the world on a luxury cruise liner?

It turns out there are so many jobs you can get on board, and some don’t need any qualifications at all.

Cruise liner worker Lucy shared the four easiest jobs that give you the best time at sea and exploring beautiful destinations.

Speaking on her Cruising as Crew YouTube channel said: “In this video, we are going through the four best and the worst jobs to do onboard a cruise ship in terms of how much work you have to do in relation to the salary.”

Shop assistant

The first easier job to get on board a cruise ship is a shop assistant, according to Lucy.

She explained: “For those of you who don’t know, I work in the shops on board and it is a really easy job.

“The shops can only be open when the ship is at sea for tax reasons.

“Today we are in port until 6pm and I start work at 7pm.

“I have all day off, I have all day to do whatever I want, whether that is sleep, record videos or go out and explore the port that we are in.

“It is one of the lowest paid jobs on the ship, but I get so much time off that it kind of warrants the salary.”

TICKET HACK

Lucy said it’s not a total walk in the park when they have to set up a shop on board.

She added: “There are a lot of deliveries, a lot of heavy lifting, pricings, countings, that is difficult, setting up a ship in any department is hard.

“However, now we are in regular operation, I am basically on vacation.”

Box office

Lucy raved about “box office” jobs, which is booking people into shows and making sure they are seated correctly there.

She said: “They get a lot of time off to see the ports, explore the places, and they are very well compensated for what they do.

“There are stressful parts, but I do believe that the job in general is pretty stress-free.

“When you clock out you don’t have to think about it again.”

Casino

Lucy said you will have a “very nice life” if you work in the casino.

She explained that the casino can only be in action when you are at sea, so if you work there you have lots of time to explore or sleep.

She added: “You will work long hours, on a sea day like the shops, you will work long hours.

“Especially if you are on a cruise with some wealthy people and you get some big tippers, you can be making some serious bank in the casino.”

Excursions department

Lucy said if you love adventurous activities, you should think about working in excursions.

She said: “You get some nice time off, you get to go on a lot of the excursions.

“On most cruise ships if you are in the excursions department you have a higher rank so you have your own cabin.

“You are a higher status so you do get privileges.

“Your job is to book lovely trips in beautiful countries and destinations and go on those trips because you have to experience the excursion to recommend it to the next people.

“I would consider working in the excursions department.
