I'm a barista – I finally understand how workers at Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks feel after intense customer encounter

A BARISTA at a local shop has compared himself to Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks workers after an intense customer encounter.

The worker claimed in a viral TikTok that he was berated by a woman for not serving "frozen" coffee and commiserated with baristas who work at the larger chains.

Taking to the social media app, user Dean Redmond explained the story in a video that has nearly 250,000 views.

"I had this woman come in and ask for a frozen coffee 10 minutes before we close, and I work at a small-town coffee shop. We do not make frozen coffee," Redmond said.

"I proceed to tell her we can do an ice coffee if you would like."

Apparently, the customer did not like Redmond's answer, and she really wanted a "frozen" coffee from Dunkin' but the chain was closed.

He recounted that she asked if the local shop had ice cream or a blender, but he responded and said no to both.

"She's like 'Fine, I'll take an iced coffee,'" Redmond shared.

The TikToker said he made an iced coffee with whipped cream and caramel drizzle for the upset customer.

He said that he put the drink on the counter with the lid on the side so she could put it on herself.

However, Redmond said this triggered another spasmatic response from the frazzled guest.

He said the customer "makes me remake the entire drink," after saying the counter was dirty so he created another iced coffee, but this time with the lid.

This was still just the beginning of her antics.

"She's like 'This is not a frozen coffee. I asked for a frozen coffee like they do at Dunkin'," she exclaimed.

In proper "Karen" fashion, she proceeded to ask for the manager.

However, because the shop was getting ready to close, Redmond said none of the managers were on duty.

"She's like 'I need your name so I can write a review online.' I was like, 'I'm sorry I'm not giving you my name.'"

After asking for the owner's contact information, she called and was sadly met with the same news that Redmond had been relaying since the beginning.

Redmond said that she tried to take the iced coffee without paying after the entire ordeal because "'This is the worst customer service ever,'" but the local barista stopped her from leaving.

Commenters on the video went on to suggest that she was just trying to get a free drink.

Others said, "if she hasn't paid she's not a customer, so she's not getting bad customer service."
