A CLEANING pro has revealed how to make your oven sparkle like new using just two common kitchen staples.

Covered in stubborn layers of grease and grime, cleaning the oven is a task most of us avoid like the plague – but fortunately, there is a way to make this chore a breeze.

Although there are chemical products that promise to instantly remove the thick grease and food leftovers, a cleaning expert has claimed there is a way that's just as effective – and more affordable.

Chatting to The Express, Shirley Langridge, a professional appliance cleaning technician at Fantastic Services advised: “Cleaning your oven with baking soda.

''Baking soda is one of the most famous and effectiveeco kitchen cleaning hacks.

“It not only helps neutralise foul odours, but it can be used to clean ovens, microwaves, and tile grout.

However, to “maximise its effectiveness”,the guru suggested storing baking soda properly after it's been opened.

Shirley said: “The best way to ensure that is to keep it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.”

When it comes to removing grease and grime, the whizz noted that baking soda should be paired with white vinegar, another staple for many cleaning fans, such as Mrs Hinch.

''Rub the paste on the inside of your oven. Don’t forget the racks and the glass door too.

''Ensure everything is coated really well and let it sit overnight.

''Close the oven door and let it sit.”

Once the mixture has been left to soak for one to two hours, grab a rag or a sponge and gently rub it in a circular motion.

Shirley added: “You’ll be surprised that all the grease is coming off easy.

''Rinse off the rag, and make sure all traces of the baking soda mixture are gone.

''However, if it’s been too long since you last cleaned your oven, you may have to repeat the procedure.”
