A KEEN bargain hunter has revealed how shoppers can still stock up at Costco without splashing out on a costly annual membership.
Monique Jones claimed that you can buy a gift card to spend in your local store – and you won’t need a membership card when redeeming it.
However, her followers did confirm that you will need a membership card to purchase one, and so encouraged asking family or friends to get one for you.
The finance coach, known online as @myfinancescrapbook, regularly shares money-saving and budgeting tips with her 44,500 followers.
In a new TikTok reel, she said: “Don’t even bother renewing that Costco membership card again until you know this hack.
“These guys are currently charging £74.40 per annum for an individual, executive Costco card.”

During the 43-second video, Monique is seen acting out a scenario savvy shoppers can try in their own stores.
She said: “Hi, welcome to Costco. How can I help you?”
Replying as a customer, she said: “Hi, I was hoping to purchase a gift card.
As the customer service assistant again, she replied: “Yes sure, how much would you like to put on there?”

Monique then proceeds to purchase a £20 gift card which she can use in-store, even without a membership.
Playing the role of customer she continued: “I just want to double-check. I’m free to shop here any time with this card, right? Even though I don’t have a membership.
As a Costco worker again, she replies: “Of course, feel free to come in anytime with that gift card and that’s all you’ll need.”
In the comments, another TikTok user summarised how it works, adding: “If a member buys you a gift card then a non-member can go and use it (it's already been purchased by a member) but a non-member can't purchase one.”
Fans loved her quick and easy hack, with the video gaining more than 47,300 likes and 1.2 million views.
In the comments, other TikTok users shared their reactions, with one writing: “The standard membership is just under £34.
“This is still a good hack though if you only go once a year and the membership won’t get used that much.”
“Costco membership biggest rip-off,” another said.
