A DOG expert has revealed the four worst dogs for first-time owners, so if you are thinking about getting a pooch, you’ll want to listen up. 

Will Atherton (@iamwillatherton), a Canine Behaviourist, explained that he helps people train their dogs and as a result of his work, has identified four pooches that shouldn’t be bought by those with no experience.



Taking to TikTok to share his advice, he posted his clip with the caption ‘Worst dog breeds for first-time owners.’

He then explained: “As a canine behaviourist, I specialise in helping people with their dogs when it goes incredibly wrong.

"The biggest mistake that most people make before they even bring a dog into their house, is choosing the wrong breed.

“First up, has to be the Cane Corso.

“One of my personal favourite breeds, but they definitely need experience to be able to raise them safely.

“Everybody is blown away with how incredibly talented the Belgian Malinois can be, and the incredible levels of training that can be achieved with them.

"But that doesn’t mean they're easy to train. In fact, it’s the opposite, they need tons of time, experience and skill.

“Next up is the Turkish Kangal, or the Anatolian Shepherd.

“Very similar breeds, but both breeds are gaining popularity. They are glorious dogs, they're beautiful dogs, they’re incredible dogs, but they are not dogs suited for first-time owners. 

“Let alone people that have only owned a few dogs. These are the epitome of needing high levels of experience and skill to keep safe.”

Will’s clip has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 243.4k views.

It has 13.3k likes, 403 comments and 106 shares.

Many social media users agreed with Will and took to the comments to express this. 

One person said: “Knew Cane Corso was on the list even before watching.” 

Another added: “Thanks. Now I know what dog breed I don’t want to choose when I get a dog (I really love your content).”
