I’m a fashion expert – my 4 jeans tips for anyone carrying extra tummy fat, they’re so slimming | The Sun

ARE you self-conscious about your midsection, or dreading jeans season when you have a little extra tummy fat?

One fashion expert shares that struggle, but her genius styling hacks saved her wardrobe – and now she can save yours, too.

Style blogger Ella Cheng is a mom of three, and like a lot of people, she dreaded buying and wearing jeans for a long time.

"This video is specifically for those of you who have some extra fat in the midsection, like me," she said at the start of her TikTok tutorial.

"Instead of low-rise jeans or mid-rise, go for high-rise," she began.

She showed the difference between a low-rise style and a pair with a higher waist, and the latter sculpted her midsection from the front and sides.

"The structure of the jeans will help shape your body better," Cheng explained.

Her next tip is a smart one to deploy at the store, when you're trying on jeans to buy. Don't go for your "regular" size, Cheng advised.

"Go for half or one size bigger," she said. If you're self-conscious about your midsection, wear jeans that are a little larger than normal, but not too much.

"The looseness gives an illusion of slimmer body compared to when jeans are tight," she said.

You can also offset attention to your midsection by redirecting it to another part of your body.

"Avoid cropped jeans if you don't plan on wearing heels," Cheng said. "Full-length jeans elongate your legs so go for those instead."

A long, uninterrupted line on the lower body will naturally draw attention away from your torso.

Cheng's final tip is one that plenty of fashion fans already follow, but it applies to buying and wearing jeans, too.
