I’m a fashion pro – how to create the illusion of looking slimmer and taller in wide-leg jeans | The Sun

YOU may feel the need to shy away from wide-leg jeans because you fear they won't flatter your body shape.

One professional stylist shared her five tips that prove there's a way to style wide-leg jeans that make you appear taller and more slender.

The YouTube channel The Simple Mindset is run by professional stylist Dianne, who directs her fashion advice toward women in their 40s and 50s.

Dianne styles pieces to be both trendy and timeless while still focusing on providing simple tips that make you feel confident in your body.

In her recent video, she focuses on how to wear wide-leg jeans if you want to look taller and thinner than you actually are.

Dianne is 5'9", but even she still uses her tips to create a certain aesthetic with her outfits.

"My first tip is to incorporate vertical lines and diagonal lines into your outfits to create the illusion you are taller and more slender," she says.

Dianne uses her white button-up top as an example.

This slim-fitting collared shirt has a V-neck and lines down the middle where the buttons are.

"So that is two elements that will make your silhouette look taller, and the rise of these jeans is another element that is elongating," Dianne explains.

According to Dianne, horizontal lines should be minimized.

If you leave the shirt fully untucked or tuck it all the way in, your figure will look wider.

Dianne continues: "My next style tip is to wear wide-leg pants that almost touch the floor."

While cropped wide-leg pants are having a moment in fashion right now, Dianna believes these to be wildly unflattering.

"They do nothing for elongating our silhouette," she says.

The cropped pants cut your figure off and make you appear shorter.

Constructing a monochrome look is another way to change the illusion of your figure to be slimmer.

"Minimizing the break in color is very elongating," Dianne explains.

And wearing pointed-toe heels that match the color of your pants works just as well.

"If you are larger chested or have broad shoulders, wearing a dark color is also going to be slenderizing," she adds.

"My final tip is to… work on our posture. This is something I am constantly working on."

Your confidence comes from how you carry yourself.
