You might be tempted to wear anything and everything oversized if you don't love the look of your belly, but that's actually going to make you look bigger, according to Chi.

Instead, opt for outfits that form the letter 'A' – you can do this by wearing dresses and skirts that flare out, or blazers with shoulder pads to help create the illusion of a smaller waist.

"You need a top that expands your shoulders and a bottom that flares out," Chi explains.

Stunning home Charles could give Wills & Kate – but they might not want it

"A belt is a double edged sword for women with a thicker waist, if you do it the wrong way it actually does the opposite and brings all the attention to your waist making you look bigger," the pro says.

The secret it to make sure you places the belt on the smallest part of your waist, rather than wearing it across your stomach.

If you've got a shapeless dress, Chi says the best thing to do is to use a belt to cinch in the waist, but hide the belt by pulling excess fabric over it.

Avoid contrasting colours

If you want to use a belt or other accessories that cover your stomach, make sure they don't stand out too much.

Chi says that contrasting colours in the area of your belly will only bring more attention to it.

"This is so obvious, it's like calling out for everyone to pay attention to it," she says.

Pick the right top

We already know that baggy t-shirts are a big no-no if hiding your belly is the goal, but that doesn't mean that all other tops will work either.

Chi says a peplum or a wrap top are always the best picks, since they'll draw attention to the smallest part of your waist, or even create one if your shape in more stright.

The pro says: "They have enough volume so they won't cling to your body and they're not gonna make you look bigger."

Ditch elastic waistbands

We get it – you want to be comfortable, but the fashion lovers reckons that elastic waistbands only draw more attention to your belly.
