I’m a gym girl – my ex joined my gym after we broke up and ruined my ‘safe place’, I’m livid | The Sun

A SHOCKED woman told of her horror after her ex signed up to the same gym as her – a year after they split.

Rebecca revealed she was a member of the David Lloyd’s when the pair were still a couple.

He would sometimes join her but after a nasty split she thought she’d seen the last of him in her life, and the gym.

But she was forced into an awkward reunion 12 months on when he suddenly showed up with a friend.

And they now have to face each other on their daily workouts – but never speak.

Rebecca lifted the lid on her dilemma on the Modern Twenties podcast which she co-hosts with pal Vic.

Rebecca said: “Nobody wants to be put in that situation. The gym is meant to be your safe place and you feel good. Then you’re faced with your ex.

“The first day I saw him I thought I was seeing things. I was with some of the boys sitting at the side of the pool and I said ‘I think that’s him’.

They were saying ‘shut up’.”

Rebecca told how the lad once gave her 100 red roses when they were an item.

She was also a regular gym-goer and he would accompany her, although he wasn’t a member.

Rebecca said: “When we were seeing each other I was going to the gym every day. He would come with me. It would be fine. Wee sauna steam all that, chill. Why a year later would you join my gym?”

After spotting him at the side of the pool Rebecca convinced herself it was someone else.

But when they bumped into each other she realised she was right and he’d signed up.

Now they’re seeing each other regularly again but she refuses to take him on.

Rebecca said: “He keeps coming with a pal. To be fair I think in this situation ignorance is bliss. I haven’t even smiled or drawn a look – nothing.”

The pair told listeners of the Glasgow-based podcast that they support anyone going to the gym and trying to keep fit.

They just wish he would go somewhere else to work out.

Vic said: “Why has he done that?
