I’m a plus-size model – how you style your clothes makes a huge difference in whether you look frumpy or not | The Sun

A PLUS-SIZE model who weighs 15 and a half stone has warned curvy women that the way they style their everyday outfits might be causing a frumpy vibe.

But the good news is, you can alter those same outfits for a more stylish look.

Marcela Baccarim was Miss Brazil Oversize in 2014 and has modelled for a number of plus-size brands, so she knows a thing or two about fashion.

The 28-year-old took to social media to showcase what plus-size women should do if they feel their clothes sit drably on their curves.

“The problem is not your body or your clothes,” she said.

“You just need to find out how to wear your clothes to bring out the beauty you already have.”

Marcela posed up side-by-side in multiple outfits – showing one side styled how she would rock it and the other how some women may feel compelled to dress to “hide” their curves.

First up was a pair of black and white trousers, a camisole and a chiffon blazer.

Marcela recommended plus-size women wear the blazer open to show off their waist – rather than bury it under the blazer – and team the look with chunky heels so elongate the legs.

And rather than wearing full-length sleeved tops with your straight-leg jeans, the model recommended pairing with a bardot-blouse.

When wearing work clothes such as chinos and a blouse, she recommended tying the front of the blouse in a knot for a more elegant look.

Marcela also styled this formal outfit with a chunky gold-buckle belt and strappy heels.

Fans of the Brazilian pageant queen took to the comments to affirm her style suggestions.

“This is totally me,” one said.  "Styling makes a difference.”

Another penned: “I think it's really crazy that the tighter clothes show us more ‘slender.'

“Because I've learned all my life that baggy clothes are better to look thinner and EVERY TIME I wear tight clothes someone comments that I've lost weight.”

Marcela has an impressive 359k followers on Instagram, most of whom are women hooked on her style suggestions.

Last year, she made her fashion week debut on the runway during São Paulo Fashion Week.
