A SAVVY mum has revealed how she managed to make a week’s worth of dinner for her family of five for under £20 – and there was no scrimping on the sides either. 

Charlotte shared that all five meals set her back just £15.39 thanks to ASDA bargains.



She also explained that the meals were a hit with her kids, with everything from pasta bake to a homemade curry on offer. 

Known online as @charlotte_mum_cooks, the content creator regularly shares family-friendly food ideas with her 4,100 followers. 

In a new reel, she said: “Here’s how to feed your family of five, five meals for less than £20. Asda edition. 

“The first meal of the week was Spiced Sausage Pasta, which came in at £2.21 and made way more than five portions.”

During the 53-second video, Charlotte showed everything parents would need to recreate her recipes, before sharing the final product. 

For Monday’s pasta dish, she used Asda’s Just Essentials Pasta Shapes, costing 41p, Just Essentials Pork Sausages, £1.40, and a white onion, priced at 33p. 

To this, she added tomato puree, 60p, chopped tomatoes, 32p, chipotle paste, £1.10, as well as garlic, oregano, and a stock cube.  

She continued: “Next up we had a red lentil dhal which I served with rice and pitta breads.

“And the price of that was £2.12, and this made loads. 

“The next meal was supposed to be sausage kebabs, but I ran out of kebab sticks, so it became a sausage traybake, served with pitta bread and lettuce, and this cost £2.67. 

“Next up, super, easy, and simple. Pie and mash with vegetables, and the price of that was £2.84, and it was absolutely delicious. Kids loved it.”

Shoppers can grab a four-pack of the Just Essentials Minced Beef & Onion Pies for just £1.20. 

She added: “Finally, we had pork chops with wedges and corn. This was the most expensive meal of the week at £5.55, but we still came in well under budget. 

“The total spend was £15.39.”

Fans loved her savvy meal plan, with the video gaining more than 2,300 likes and 122,300 views.
