I’m a vet & there are 5 breeds of dogs I’d never own – they’re smelly, gassy & they’ll bite you | The Sun

BETWEEN shedding, training, biting, and ripping, each type of dog comes with individual characteristics and requirements.

One veterinarian listed the five dogs she wouldn't personally get because they're smelly, gassy, and violent.

Videos of people listing dog breeds they believe others should stop buying began trending on social media.

Whether it was for safety reasons or morality issues, more professionals weighed in on the conversation.

Dr. Terrell, a veterinarian, posted her video to discuss her opinions on the types of dogs she wouldn't get.

"I'm going to do five breeds I would not own because I'm a veterinarian," she says at the beginning of the video.

Dr. Terrell starts with the Chinese crested, hairless dogs.

"I mean the dogs and stuff are fine, but I don't like hairless animals… They're kind of greasy," she believes.

Referring to the next breed as "ankle biters," Dr. Terrell makes it clear she is not interested in ever getting a Chihuahuas.

"Not my cup of tea. Will more than likely be a bit if I had one. They're a one-person kind of dog," she explains.

Though she does admit to having worked with some really sweet ones, the other "ankle biters" ruined them all for her.

Next, any brachycephalics aren't what she'll ever be getting.

These kinds of dogs include pugs, Shi Tzus, and Boston terriers.

"Some of them are so cute and so sweet, but they can't breathe, they cannot breathe," Dr. Terrell explains.

On top of breathing issues, they are more prone to skin fold dermatitis, allergies, being yeasty, smelly, and gasy.

German shepherds and Belgian malinois "have the potential to be really great dogs."

However, Dr. Terrell says that most of these dogs she sees are too violent.

"95% of the ones we see in clinic want to bite your face off because they're not properly trained. I know I would not be able to properly train them because I have no time," she admits.

If you are going to get these dogs, Dr. Terrell warns that they need lots of training and attention.

"And coming in at number one to piss everybody off is golden doodles," she continues.

A controversial opinion, but she explains why.

Dr. Terrell believes: "A lot of them are crazy, crazy hyper can't sit still for two seconds."

"We've had some really aggressive ones as well. Ear infections out the wazoo. So expensive grooming. They're a mixed breed, um just too high maintenance for me," she adds.

The dog she would choose is a hound dog.
