A MARRIED woman has opened up about her decision to not have children with her husband of fifteen years.
Jenn Lyles, who has spoken openly on social media about why she’s happy to be child-free, posted an update on her TikTok account, before hitting back at critics who dubbed her “selfish”.
In a video titled “4 Reasons I love my child-free life”, Jenn explained: “If you’re new here, my husband and I have been married for fifteen years.
“We knew we never wanted children and these are just a few of the benefits to not having kids.”
Jenn then went on to say: “The reason for me even making this is just to normalise not having children.
“There’s a lot of pressure for women to have kids. We hear it our entire life – that we cannot be fulfilled without them.

“So I just think there needs to be more videos, more content about the benefits to not having children.”
Jenn then reeled off her top reasons, beginning with the fact she and her husband have more money.
She revealed: “We are dual income, no kids, so we just have more income to spend on ourselves, to travel, and to give.
Jenn explained this meant they could even pay for her family to go to Europe for the first time – something she believes they would not have been able to do if the couple had children to look after.

She went on to say that the second reason is that they “get to travel all the time” and she doesn’t have to “worry about her kids in school.”
Jenn, who has nieces, said the third reason is one a lot of people can relate to – sleep.
She explained: “Saturdays we get to sleep in, we don’t have to spend time at a ball field. I just get at least eight hours every night, it’s just wonderful.”
Jenn then lifted the lid on her fourth reason, saying: “I’ve really been able to focus on my career – that is probably the top reason why I knew I never wanted kids.
“I always wanted to be career focused. You can do that and have children, but it’s easier without them.”

However, once she posted the video, Jenn was met with some comments from those who said she was “narcissistic” and “selfish” not to want children.
But staying positive, she replied: “Let’s tell her why this is sad and oh so wrong. Friend, the amount of people I’ve helped with my money and time. Selfish is not the word.”
